An artist friend of mine had a cool slide show on her website. Of course I wanted to know how she did it!
I clicked the “Make Your Own” button, uploaded a few pics and VOILA! Here is a little slide show that gives you a peek into my life.
Go ahead! Click the button and make one too! It’s quick, it’s easy and it’s free!

Are your walls ready for movie night?

August 17, 2008

Lights! Camera! Action!

Last week I was delighted to get an email announcing that two of my movie designs have been added to the Lazart Productions offering.

A very different design approach than most of my work, I have really enjoyed the challenges of creating in black and white — or changing current full-color designs to black and white. And the people at Lazart couldn’t be more fun to work with.

There are more than 20 designs for kids, coffee, wine and now movies — all designed by little ol’ me.

Laser-cut from 1/8″ steel and coated in rich finishes — all in the U.S.A. And all designs are available at my online store — act now and receive 10% off! (use code “blog10”)

The perfect gift for a modern baby…

August 13, 2008

I’m going to be an aunt!

Assuming all goes well, my second niece or first nephew will arrive on August 27th. I have to tell you, I think it’s pretty funny that my brother and I are 2 years apart (I’m older) and our kids will be 15 years minus 4 days apart. Go figure! But you have to wait for the time to be right for you, and I believe these children came at the perfect time for the parents.

And besides, if he had a baby before 6 months ago, I wouldn’t have had my own fabric to use when making a baby quilt. So the timing is truly perfect, wouldn’t you agree?

This snuggle fleece fabric is (or was, not sure!) available at JoAnn Fabric stores. I spent last weekend cutting, organizing and sewing squares. Then I hopped online and ordered a flip Video™ camera — they are very cool and very portable.

What more could a baby want? A warm, homemade blanket featuring the art of “Aunt Tara” and easy access to record all the funny things they do!

P.S. If you happen to find and make something with my fabric, be sure to share!

Coffee Cross-Stitch sighted at Jo-Ann Stores!

August 10, 2008

The other day my sister, who is as un-crafty as you get, called me.  “Oh, by the way, I was at Jo-Ann Fabric with a friend and showed her your cross-stitch kit…”  It just rolled out like no big deal, like, “by the way, it’s raining”, that sort of thing.

Now this 1 sentence-wonder stopped me in my tracks on 2 counts.  The first being my need to clarify, “Wait a minute…” I began, “You were where?

“Jo-Ann Fabric” she replied.

Why?” I asked.  I don’t think my sister has taken out her sewing machine since she taught me to make some crazy looking balloon-like shorts in the early ’90s.  (Of which neither of us are proud so you’ll never see a picture of those!)

Anyway, to shorten the story, she was there for her friend and happened to find the stamped cross-stitch kits shown here.  It was the first I knew they were there.

Thought I’d let you know in case you are itching to stitch!

Have a creative day!

P.S. Let me know if you see my designs anywhere, this story illustrates how I’m often the last to know!

Gear up for a Happy Halloween!

August 5, 2008

I know it’s August — but I don’t control the retail stores!  🙂  If you head out to your local Ross Dress for Less Store you might find some of these be-witching products in the housewares section.

It is so rewarding to find products in stores with my designs on them.  Even more fun when you find them where you don’t expect them! My sister called to ask why I hadn’t told her to look for the mugs she found over the weekend — I just found out myself.

Have a creative day and get ready — Halloween will be here before we know it.
